SOUTHERN FRUIT TEA COCKTAIL

Southern Fruit Tea Cocktail Recipe! The perfect summer beverage!

D
own South, we take our fruit tea seriously. It’s a favorite beverage for just about every meal of the day and every season of the year, especially when the weather gets warm. It’s refreshing, full of my favorite citrus flavors, and easy to make. So it’s only natural that it gets a boozy twist, thus making it my absolute favorite party beverage to date. Behold, the Southern Fruit Tea Cocktail! Trust me, you’ll want to keep a pitcher of this cocktail on hand for spring and summer parties.

SOUTHERN FRUIT TEA

COCKTAIL

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 quarts Steamed Alston Tea
  • 1 cup lemonade
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ½ cup orange juice concentrate thawed
  • 1 ½ cups dark rum
  • sliced lemons pineapple chunks, oranges, mint, and maraschino cherries for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine all ingredients and stir well.
  2. garnish with fresh fruit.

Something I really appreciate about this recipe is that it’s quick to make. When we’re entertaining, we’re busy running around to pick up toys, clean off tabletops, get the food on the grill, etc. The last thing we need is to spend a crazy amount of time on a drink. We need something quick and delicious every single time it’s made. Plus, I don’t know a single soul that hasn’t loved my Southern Fruit Tea Cocktail. It would be a wonderful signature cocktail for weddings or showers too. Serve it up with a cute striped straw or personalized drink stirrer for a little pizzazz. It looks great in a short cocktail glass, a highball, a wine glass, or even a water glass.
Garnishing is always a must in my book. It instantly takes things from a “drink” to a “fancy cocktail” with a garnish. Just grab a few lemons, oranges, and a pineapple. I love how the fresh fruit infuses the drink with even more flavor too. I always keep maraschino cherries in my refrigerator, so adding one of those it was a no-brainer. I love the pop of red.
So find a hammock or porch swing, sit back, and sip away with this Southern Fruit Tea Cocktail, y’ all!
Cheers,
Courtney

Orange Brown Sugar Sweet Tea

#1: Grab the vegetable peeler and an orange and let’s get started.  Hold the orange firmly in one hand and, with the other hand, cut away the orange peel (the very outer, orange skin of the orange).  If you get a little of the white peel, the pith (remind anyone of Ethel Thayer?) it isn’t a big deal. #2: “Muddling”.  All it means, in this instance, is to mash an orange slice into the tea.  Right before serving the tea, place one half of an orange slice in the bottom of each glass and muddle, or mash, the orange to release the juice and oils.  Since I don’t own a muddler, I use the rounded end of my wooden spoon.  Muddle with slight force; just a couple of pushes and twists should be enough. EARL GREY TEA LATTE

pic courtesy - COOK NOURISH BLISS INGREDIENTS: 1 earl grey tea bag ¾ cup boiling water ¾ cup milk ½ to 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup, depending on desired sweetness* sprinkle of cinnamon DIRECTIONS: Add the tea bag to a mug and pour in the boiling water. Let steep for about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the tea bag. Meanwhile, add the milk to a small saucepan set over medium heat. Heat until just steaming (do not let the milk boil). Alternatively, you can heat the milk in the microwave. Add the milk to the mug and stir in the vanilla syrup. Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and enjoy. If desired, you can whisk the steamed milk until very frothy before pouring it into the mug (or use a milk frother). I just prefer these lattes without the foam. *If you do not have vanilla syrup, you can substitute a teaspoon or so of regular granulated sugar and a splash of vanilla extract. Adjust the quantities to your own taste. Source - Cook Nourish Bliss ...

Cinnamon Rose Tea + Honey & Milk

Herbal teas are a penchant of mine and this winter I’ve been drinking a lot of this Cinnamon Rose tea, always with a splash of coconut milk and honey! It’s comforting and warming and I especially like a cup at night after the kids have gone to bed. I’ve used ground cinnamon in this recipe as it is easier to use for single servings, but go ahead and use cinnamon sticks, if you like. Especially if you are brewing up a large batch. If you do use the ground cinnamon, you may find it beneficial to strain the tea through a nut milk bag or cloth before drinking to keep the finer granules out.
